Blade Sharpener Project

This project is the brain child of an instructor at a local private school who is also an accomplished mechanic and supervisor of g the school’s grounds.  These grounds have large amount of Bermuda type grass, normally grown and maintained on golf courses for that deep green smooth texture look and functionality. Our client realized one day that he was expending an enormous amount of time, energy and money removing and sending out the blades for sharpening. He had many of the required custom rotary blade heads for his many pieces of equipment being used to trim the Bermuda as well as the other types of grass on the grounds. This is when he arrived at the concept for a machine that would sharpen the blades quickly and precisely while still attached to the equipment. Our engineers reviewed a rough functional prototype that he built and uses. We went over a long list of must have and nice to have features for a next generation prototype unit. The new design included a more precise and commercial duty linear motion slide with way cover and sophisticated electronics to more accurately control the grinding motion. The new build will also include a very stylish dust cover designed by a very prominent associate of the school who has done design work for Ferrari sports cars and has donated his services to the school for this project. Currently we are doing the first build and debug of that prototype unit.
