Flywheel Generator Project

This high profile and exciting project came to us in the form of a phone call seeking help to design a very unique composite construction energy storage flywheel system. This project has some extremely high value intellectual property associated with it. Cutting edge technologies are the theme with this ongoing project and the engineering challenges are endless! Our engineering team has been collaborating with experts in an array of diverse technologies in order to bring them together as one in a series of systems and sub systems. We have designed and built a quarter scale model prototype as a proving grounds for the different technologies and how they all work with each other. Our engineers have designed a unique patented variable speed drive that has infinite ratios and zero drag when disengaged. We are currently pleased with the success of the quarter scale project and continue to debug and refine target areas for higher efficiency. We are able to spin the quarter scale model up to speed and then disengage the drive discharging the stored kinetic energy into a generator that powers our office. When the speed gets below the specified limit for the generator to put out clean power, the drive reengages and drives the mass of the flywheel back up to speed where it will disengage and discharge again.

The full scale project is currently near completion and should be able to store and discharge up to 4 megawatt hours of energy. This project has the attention of many applications and markets worldwide.
